Gigaset telephones
A compatible Gigaset telephone is particularly useful when connecting a PBX or Fritzbox to Fone&Text is otherwise not possible. The phone must always be connected to your router or switch via a network cable.
For setup you will need the PIN or password of the phone (default: 0000 or admin) and the IP address of the phone.
- Navigate in the Daylite Plug-Ins menu to Fone&Text → Preferences → Phones
- Click the plus sign, select Gigaset from the drop-down menu and click OK

iPhone
The iPhone integration of Fone&Text uses Apple's Handoff feature, which allows you to use your iPhone's phone function on your Mac. Learn how to pair your Mac with your iPhone in a separate tutorial.
| Important: For technical reasons, the contact in Daylite may not always be found by the phone number. In this case, a call window without a selected contact will open. The contact can then be selected manually. |

Fritzbox (experimental)
The manufacturer of the Fritzbox, AVM, has increasingly restricted the interfaces that software like Fone&Text uses to communicate with the Fritzbox. Fritzbox routers with current FritzOS therefore no longer work reliably with Fone&Text. The Fritzbox driver continues to ship but is marked as "experimental".
The following alternatives are available:
- Using the Fritzbox with the Bria telephone software on your Mac
- Connecting a Gigaset DX800A telephone to the Fritzbox
Usage – Calls

Choose the phone when dialling
Uncheck Always call with the primary phone to select the desired phone for each call.
Delegating callbacks to colleagues
Fone&Text not only connects your PBX but also allows you to log calls and delegate callbacks.
To delegate a callback, navigate to the three-dot menu in the Fone&Text window and select Delegate callback. Choose the user and click Delegate.
Adding a phone number to the call log
Once Fone&Text is configured, a call window opens for incoming and outgoing calls. Enable the option Add number to details. When you end the call, the phone number will be transferred to the details.
Showing active projects and opportunities of the default company
When making calls it is important to link all relevant objects. Fone&Text can therefore additionally display all active projects and opportunities of the caller's or callee's default company in the call window. To enable this feature, proceed as follows:
- Navigate to Fone&Text in the iOSXpert PluginCenter
- Select Phones
- Enable Show open goals of the default company in contacts
As soon as a call comes in or you initiate a call from Daylite, you will see all active projects and opportunities of the default company directly in the Fone&Text window.
Phone number format in Daylite
Fone&Text requires a technically correct phone number in Daylite. International numbers need the country code, area code and phone number. Spaces or hyphens as separators are fine.
Correct examples:
- 02622 9780000 (national)
- +49 2622 9780000 (international)
- 0049 2622 9780000 (international)
Incorrect examples:
- +49 (0)2622 9780000
- 0049 (0)2622 9780000
- 49 2622 9780000
Usage – Text Messages (SMS)
Sending text messages (SMS)
To send text messages (SMS) from Daylite, you need an SMS service. You can use Twilio and Apple Messages in parallel.
Note: Apple Messages is not suitable for sending messages to a large number of recipients simultaneously. For bulk SMS we recommend Twilio.
Creating text message templates
Navigate via the Daylite menu to Plug-Ins → Fone&Text → Preferences → Messages → Templates tab. Use the plus icon to create a new template. Use the Insert placeholder button, e.g. for personalised salutations. You can reorder templates via drag & drop.
Sending an SMS via the message icon
Click the message icon next to the contact's phone number in Daylite.
Setting up Apple Messages

Setting up Twilio
- Visit the Twilio website and create an account

- Click the plus icon and select Twilio
- Enter the following details:
- Twilio SID = Account SID

- Twilio Sender Number = your Twilio number
- Twilio Sender Name = display name when sending SMS
| Note: When specifying a sender name, mobile numbers must include the country code (e.g. +49 for Germany, +1 for the US). |
Labelling phone numbers for SMS
To send text messages via Twilio or Apple Messages, mobile phone numbers in Daylite must be marked with labels. Navigate to a contact's phone numbers and assign the label Mobile or iPhone to the mobile number. This is how Fone&Text identifies which number to send the SMS to.
Using Share Sheets in Daylite
Share Sheets allow you to share content from Daylite directly with other apps and services. This feature is available via the share icon in various Daylite views and enables seamless sharing of contact data, notes or documents.
Receiving SMS
No, Fone&Text cannot currently receive SMS. Fone&Text only supports sending SMS messages via Apple Messages and Twilio. SMS can only be received through the respective service app (e.g. the Apple Messages app on your Mac).
