Our Dropbox integrations allows you to link Dropbox folders or create new ones for people, projects, companies and opportunities. Files and folders from Dropbox can be delegated as a Daylite task with a reference link and a Dropbox link. The sahred Dropbox link provides direct access even on iPhone and iPad.
Please note:
We highly recommend to have your Dropbox settings adjusted so that your local Dropbox folder sits in the Users / Shared directory. This ensures that files from your Mac can easily be shared with others.
Please make sure you have this set up accordingly before proceeding.
In order to use the Dropbox integration in Daylite, you must sign in to Dropbox via DayliteDocs:
- Navigate to PluginCenter and open DayliteDocs.
- Click on Dropbox and log in with your Dropbox credentials
- A pop-up login window will open like our below above
- In this following security prompt, click continue
- The path to the Dropbox folder is where the Dropbox folder is located on your Mac. If you're using the Dropbox app on macOS, the path can be retrieved automatically from there.
- If you want to use a second Dropbox account to separate private and job-related files, please check these articles on the Dropbox website for details.
- If you set up a second folder, a popup window will appear asking you if the account is personal or for business. Please make sure to make the correct selection here.
Advanced settings for administrators
All settings below work across the entire database and are only available to Daylite administrators.
Automatic Subfolders
When you create a folder, you can automatically create the folders defined here (see above animation). You can enter these initial folders in the field provided. As an example, this can be useful when working with client folders for setting up inbound expenses, outbound bills or project subfolders.
Dropbox Links (public links)
For Daylite records like Projects, Companies, People and Opportunities Dropbox links can be generated and automatically written to a custom field.
Here you can choose into which custom field these public links should be inserted. The following article describes how you can add custom fields.
Please make sure to not pick custom fields that are already in use elsewhere!
Finder Links
Here you can choose into which custom field the local link should be inserted. The following article describes how you can add custom fields.
