Since macOS 14 Sonoma, Apple no longer supports the classic (legacy) plugins for Apple Mail and instead only allows so-called extensions based on Apple's MailKit. It is therefore no longer possible to permanently display the Daylite Mail Assistant (DMA) as a sidebar within the main Mail window. Instead, the DMA extension will be displayed in its own window.
In contrast to macOS 14 Sonoma, macOS 13 Ventura supports both the legacy DMA plugin and the new DMA extension in its own window. If the new DMA extension is activated under macOS Ventura, you can switch back to the legacy plugin. To do so, please follow these steps:
- Deactivate the Daylite Mail Assistant (DMA) in the Apple Mail Settings under Extensions
- Navigate to the General tab and check under Manage Plugins whether the DayliteMailAssistant.mailbundle is already shown and activate it if necessary. If DMA is not shown, please proceed to paragraph What do I need to do... below
- Restart Apple Mail while holding down the ⌥ key [alt/option]
- The DMA sidebar should now be available again. If that's not the case, please follow the steps outlined in this HelpCenter article: How do I hide the Daylite Mail Assistant (DMA)?
What do I need to do if the DayliteMailAssistant.mailbundle doesn't show?

- Start Daylite
- Open the Daylite menu and select Install Mail Assistant
- Install DMA as outlined in this HelpCenter article: How do I install the Daylite Mail Assistant (DMA)?
- The DMA sidebar should now be available again. If that's not the case, please follow the steps outlined in this HelpCenter article: How do I hide the Daylite Mail Assistant (DMA)?
Please note, that the DMA Settings are no longer in the Apple Mail settings but the Daylite settings.
