If you run Daylite with your own server (Daylite Self Serve), the Daylite Server Admin App automatically creates regular backups of your Daylite database.
A weekly backup is set by default. However, you can also configure the interval in the Daylite Server Admin App as you wish in the Backup tab. We recommend a daily backup.
The backups created by the Daylite server are stored in a folder on the local computer. When backing up the computer using a backup program such as Apple Time Machine, the backups created by the Daylite server are automatically transferred to an external media with the other data backed up by the backup program.
This ensures that the Daylite database can be restored via an externally backed up backup even if the server's hard disk/SSD fails.
To create a manual backup of the Daylite database, please proceed as follows:
- Start the program Daylite Server Admin
- Unlock the padlock with your computer password in the Daylite Server Admin App at the bottom left of the screen.
- On the Database tab, click on the Create backup now button
- Select the folder where you want to save the backup (e. g. desktop) and click Backup
Please note that you must first unlock the padlock in the lower left corner of the Daylite Server Admin App to make changes to the configuration or perform a manual backup.
